Language Focus (Trang 53-54-55-56 SGK Tiếng Anh 9)
1. Change the adjectives into adverbs. Then use the adverbs to complete the sentences. (Chuyển tính từ thành trạng từ. Sau đó sử dụng các trạng từ để hoàn thành câu.)

a. Hoa was extremely pleased that she got an A for her assignment.
b. The old man walked slowly in the park.
c. Tuan sighed sadly when he heard that he failed the test.
d. The baby laughed happily as she played with her toys.
e. Ms Nga speaks English quite well.
2. Join the pairs of sentences together. Use because, as or since. (Kết hợp các cặp câu lại với nhau. Sử dụng bởi because, as hoặc since.)
Example:
a. Ba is tired because/ as/ since he stayed up late watching TV.
b. Nam has a broken leg because/ since he fell over while he was playing basketball.
c. Lan is going to be late for school as/ since the bus is late.
d. Hoa brokes the cup because she was careless.
e. Mai wants to go home because/ since she feels sick.
f. Nga is hungry because/ as she hasn’t eaten all day.
3. Complete the dialogues. Use the words in brackets. (Hoàn thành đoạn hội thoại. Sử dụng từ trong ngoặc.)
Phần này mình chỉ trình bày các câu hội thoại cần hoàn thành. Câu hội thoại còn lại có trong sách giáo khoa tiếng Anh 9.
a) Mr. Ha: That’s wonderful! I’m pleased that you are working hard.
b) Mrs. Robinson: Tomorrow. I’m excited that I’m going to Da Lat.
c) Lan: I’m sorry that I have broken your bicycle.
d) Mr. Robinson: I’m disappointed that you didn’t phone me.
e) Nga: Thanks. I’m amazed that I win the first prize.
4. Match each half-sentence in column A with a suitable one in column B. (Ghép mỗi nửa câu ở cột A với một nửa phù hợp ở cột B.)

5. Complete the sentences. (Hoàn thành các câu sau.)
a. If the rice paddies are polluted, rice plants will die.
b. If we go on littering, the environment will become seriously polluted.
c. If we plant more trees along the streets, we’ll have more shade and fresh air.
d. If we use much pesticide on vegetables, the vegetables will become poisonous and inedible.
e. If we keep our environment clean, we’ll live a happier and healthier life.
