Task 1. Look at the newspaper cuttings from the future, and say what will happened by the end of the 21^st century. (Hãy nhìn vào các mẩu báo của tương lai, và nói những điều sẽ xảy ra vào cuối thế kỷ 21^st.)

– By the end of the 21^st century, Chinese astronauts will have landed on Mars.

– By the end of the 21^st century, the third city on the moon will have been declared open.

– By the end of the 21^st century, scientiest will have found a cure for the common cold.

– By the end of the 21^st century, the oldest world citizen will have celebrated her 150^th birthday.

– By the end of the 21^st century, Vietnam tourism will have welcomed the fiftieth holiday-maker back from Jupiter.

– By the end of the 21^st century, the first car running on sea water will have been finished.

Task 2. Work in pairs. Which of these predictions are likely/unlikely to happen? Give at least two reasons for each. (Làm việc theo cặp. Những dự báo nào có khả năng/không có khả năng xảy ra? Đưa ra ít nhất hai lí do cho mỗi dự báo.)

– I think it’s very unlikely that by the end of the 21^st century, Chinese astronauts will have landed on Mars because it’s too far from the earth.

– I think it’s very likely that scientists will have found a cure for the common cold by the end of the 21^st century thanks to the development of science arid technology.

– In my opinion, it’s unlikely that by the end of the 21^st century people will be living to the age of 150 because there will be more and more diseases.

Làm tương tự với các vế câu because … sau:

   – … because living standards will be/ have been improved.

   – … the cures for fatal diseases will be/have been found.

   – … it’s (Jupiter/Mars/moon) too far.

   – … it’s (Jupiter/Mars/moon) too cold/hot there.

   – … there’s no water there./ The atmosphere is too thin there.

   – … it’s too costly/ just impossible to do that.

Task 3. Work in groups. Make some more predictions about what life will be like one hundred years from now. (Làm việc nhóm. Hãy đưa ra một vài dự báo nữa về cuộc sống sẽ ra sao trong 100 năm nữa.)

Gợi ý:

– I think we won’t need money or credit cards by the year 2106 because there won’t be any stores by then. We’ll do all our shopping through computers or interactive TV.

– I believe that schools will no longer be necessary thanks to the Internet and other new technology.
